About Us
Every object is a conversation.
WHO WE ARE
Buccal Market is a concept store for objects that tell stories. We curate toys, books, and small goods for the home and table—made by independent creators, illustrators, and designers who leave room for wonder.
We believe the objects we live with shape how we think, how we notice, and how we gather. They carry memories and pass them along. So we look for the tactile and the well-made: pieces with texture, weight, and a point of view.
WHERE IT COMES FROM
Buccal Market began as a blog: a place to highlight artists and makers and hold space for their origin stories. Founder Anna Darbinyan studied illustration and fine art at ArtCenter College of Design, and works as an educator alongside building the shop. Those two threads—art and education—run through everything here: a habit of collecting references, and curating collections that invite exploration.
At the center is The Attic—a monthly installation borrowed from a children's book, half story and half treasure hunt.
Buccal Market has a sister project, Buccal Studios—where the work of making, rather than curating, lives.
WHAT WE'RE AFTER
We think of the shop the way we'd think of childhood, a good bookstore, and a small museum: a place to slow down. As the founder puts it, choosing between favorites has never come easily—the snail, the elephant, the turtle. They're all unhurried, an unexpected discovery that's shaped how Buccal Market has grown: with patience and persistence.
Slow and steady, every one.
